13-year UMaine associate professor of computer science passes away

Elise Turner, 49, a professor at the University of Maine, died Aug. 14, 2008 after a long struggle with cancer.
Turner devoted her career to UMaine for 13 years as a computer science associate professor and served as head of the computer science program.
Her husband, Roy Turner, also a UMaine professor, said it is impossible to describe the person she was in just a few words.…

James Lyons became the third student body president in a row not voted in by student vote during the Sept. 2 meeting of the General Student Senate. One of Lyons' missions is to change the process that gave him his seat.
Lyons is considering proposing a resolution to change the election dates from spring semester to fall.…

On Aug. 21 the acting president of the student body, with the consensus of the Student Government (SG) executive board, terminated the Zipcar program, a rental-car service on campus.
